Where the Money Actually Goes in a Home Interior Budget

Modular joinery: 40-50%

Kitchen, wardrobes and storage. This is the largest line in almost every project and it is also where quality differences show up soonest — in hinges, runners and edge banding.

Civil, ceiling and painting: 15-20%

False ceilings, electrical rework, plumbing changes, tiling and paint. This is the line that expands when a flat needs more correction than expected.

Furniture and soft furnishing: 15-25%

Sofa, beds, dining, curtains, rugs. Often quoted separately, which is why whole-home budgets get underestimated at the start.

Lighting and electrical fittings: 5-8%

Fixtures, drivers, switches and control. Small as a percentage, disproportionately large in its effect on how the finished home reads.

Contingency: 10%

Not optional. Every project meets something unexpected behind a wall or above a ceiling, and a project without contingency simply becomes a project with a difficult conversation.
