Design the queue before the finish

Entry, wait, transact, exit. Where people stand and for how long determines the layout; the material palette follows the plan, not the other way round.

Specify cleanable surfaces in clinical areas

Coved skirtings, sealed joints, non-porous counters and washable paint. Any detail that traps dirt will fail an inspection and will genuinely harbour contamination.

Light retail merchandise, not the floor

Track-mounted accent lighting at three to five times ambient on displays. High-CRI lamps are essential where colour accuracy affects a purchase decision.

Zone the acoustics for privacy

Consultation rooms need genuine sound isolation — full-height partitions to the slab, sealed doors and insulation. A partition stopping at the false ceiling provides almost none.

Plan signage and branding into the fabric

Recessed niches, integrated lighting and cable routes for illuminated signage designed in from the start, rather than applied afterwards.
