How to choose tile shop
Six checks that prevent the failures we are most often called to fix.
- Buy against the actual lot, and get it photographed with the batch number before dispatch. This one habit prevents most supply disputes.
- Ask for the grade and batch to be printed on the invoice. A warranty claim is decided by the invoice, not the conversation.
- Reserve 10–15% from the same lot for cuts, breakage and future repair. Matching a lot two years later is not possible.
- Confirm who unloads, who stores and who is liable for damage at each stage. Most breakage happens between the truck and the room.
- Establish the lead time honestly, especially for imported material, and build the site programme around it rather than the other way round.
- For imported material, ask what happens if the container is delayed — the answer belongs in the schedule before it becomes a problem.

What the city's climate, water, housing stock and society rules mean for this specification.
The Bangalore housing stock splits cleanly, and tile shop is specified differently for each half. New towers along the outer ring have regular layouts, compact utility areas and generous ceiling height; the older independent homes in the south and west have height, thicker walls and almost no two dimensions the same.

Traffic decides delivery windows more than distance does. Material moving to Whitefield, Sarjapur or Electronic City is scheduled outside peak hours, and large items are checked against the lift and stair turn before the order rather than on delivery day.
Dust along the metro and ORR construction corridors is a real specification input. Sealed joinery, washable finishes and casement or sliding windows with good seals pay for themselves in these pockets in the first year.

Process
How the work runs

How do I verify what I am buying?

What lead time should I plan for?

Who is responsible for damage in transit?
Whatever the delivery terms say, which is why they belong in writing. We inspect in daylight against the approved sample on the day of delivery and record any issue immediately.
Can material be reserved before the site is ready?
Yes, and for imported or single-lot material it usually should be. Reserved stock is stored properly and released to site when the programme calls for it, which avoids both damage and delay.
Is installation included?
Supply and installation are quoted separately so both are transparent. Where we supervise installation, the responsibility for the finished result sits with us rather than being split.
