The parts of custom planters that fail first are the parts nobody looks at — hinges, runners, seals, fixings and the edge nobody sealed. That is why our specification names hardware by model and the substrate by grade, and why our estimates look different from ones written by category.
Every custom planters we build starts from how the room is used at its busiest hour. Circulation, reach and storage volume come first; elevations come second. It is a slower way to start and it removes most of the changes that would otherwise appear halfway through production.
Where custom planters interacts with services — a duct, a drain, a conduit, an AC route — the service wins. Every attractive detail that ignored a service has been rebuilt at some point, usually at the client’s cost, which is why we resolve them together on one drawing.
Within custom planters specifically, one thing changes the decision: the custom grade is a specification, not a description — we write down what it means in dimensions and finish before it is priced.

Before you commit
How to choose custom planters
Six checks that prevent the failures we are most often called to fix.
- Size to the wall and the furniture below it. Art hung at two-thirds the width of the sofa is the reliable proportion; anything smaller floats.
- Hang the centre at eye level — around 1500mm — regardless of ceiling height. Art hung high to fill a wall never looks right.
- Light it deliberately with a narrow-beam framing spot. Unlit art in a well-lit room disappears at night.
- Buy for the room's light. Colours that sing in a gallery can go flat under warm domestic lighting.
- Use museum or anti-reflective glass where the piece faces a window; otherwise you will look at a reflection of the window.
- Fix into structure, not into a false ceiling or a hollow panel, and use two points so the piece cannot rotate.
Bangalore
Custom Planters in Bangalore
What the city's climate, water, housing stock and society rules mean for this specification.
Working in Bangalore means working around two practical constraints more than around climate. Apartment societies restrict working hours, service-lift access and debris removal; and the new high-rise stock along the eastern corridor is handed over as a bare shell, so custom planters arrives at the same time as every other trade.
Traffic decides delivery windows more than distance does. Material moving to Whitefield, Sarjapur or Electronic City is scheduled outside peak hours, and large items are checked against the lift and stair turn before the order rather than on delivery day.
Dust along the metro and ORR construction corridors is a real specification input. Sealed joinery, washable finishes and casement or sliding windows with good seals pay for themselves in these pockets in the first year.
Balcony enclosure rules vary sharply between societies, and a few refuse them entirely. Anything involving a balcony gets checked against the society's own rules before design, not after — including in Indiranagar and Koramangala, where older buildings often have their own restrictions.

What moves the price of custom planters
We quote line by line rather than per square foot, because these are the items that actually differ between two estimates.
- The work itself, which is a market rather than a specification.
- Framing and glazing, where museum glass is a significant addition.
- Lighting: a framing projector costs several times a standard spot and does a different job.
- Installation, especially for heavy or high pieces.
- Commissioned work, which is priced by artist and scale.
Process
How the work runs
Five stages, with the decisions each one locks.
We measure the space ourselves rather than working from the builder's drawing, note the services, water quality, daylight and society rules, and write down how the room is actually used. Custom Planters is specified against that survey, not against a catalogue.
Plans, elevations and details, with the specification written as grades and dimensions. You approve an elevation, not a render — this is the stage where changes cost nothing.
Material, finish, hardware and services are locked, and the estimate becomes a line-by-line document. We tell you exactly what this date locks and what can still change afterwards.
Factory production runs to the approved drawing while site work is prepared. Material is checked against the approved sample on arrival, in daylight, and stored correctly until the programme calls for it.
Installation, testing, snagging and a documentation file with drawings, warranties, decor codes and hardware models. A first-year service visit is scheduled at handover.
Living with it

Care and maintenance
- Keep works on paper out of direct sun entirely; UV damage is cumulative and cannot be reversed.
- Dust frames with a dry cloth and never spray cleaner onto glass near a frame edge.
- Check hanging fixings annually, particularly for heavy pieces on plasterboard.
- Rotate seasonal pieces rather than leaving everything up permanently; a room reads better when it changes.
What goes wrong
- Hanging too high and too small — the two errors that account for most badly hung walls.
- Lighting art with the same downlights that light the room.
- Fixing heavy pieces into gypsum without a backing plate.
- Buying to fill a wall rather than because the piece is wanted.
Detailing

The small decisions that separate built work from assembled work.
A group of works reads as one piece if the spacing between them is tighter than the distance from the group to the furniture.
Leave 200 to 250mm between the top of a sofa back and the bottom of the frame.
In a corridor, hang along one wall only and light from the opposite side to avoid glare as you walk.
Objects on a console want odd numbers and varied heights; three pieces at three heights beat five at the same height.

How high should Custom Planters be hung?
With the centre of the piece at about 1500mm from the floor, which is average eye level. In a room with very high ceilings, resist the urge to raise it — the furniture, not the ceiling, sets the relationship.
How do I light it?
A narrow-beam framing spot or an adjustable track head at roughly 30 degrees from vertical, aimed to avoid glare from the glass. Lighting is the difference between owning art and seeing it.
What size should I choose?
Roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath, or a group that reads as a single mass of that width. Undersized art is the most common error in otherwise well-finished rooms.
Can pieces be fixed to a false ceiling or panelled wall?
Only into the structure behind. Anything over a few kilos needs a backing plate or a fixing into the sub-frame, planned before the panelling closes up.
How is custom planters protected from Indian light and humidity?
Keep works on paper out of direct sun and use UV-filtering glazing. In coastal humidity, leave an air gap behind the frame rather than fixing it flush to the wall.
Should I buy as a set?
A considered set works in a corridor or a stair wall. Elsewhere, one strong piece almost always beats three safe ones.

Does Bangalore's climate or water affect this choice?
The climate helps and the water does not. Mild year-round temperatures are kinder to timber and joinery than almost any other Indian city, so craft detailing lasts. Hard borewell water in the eastern and northern corridors is the real constraint — it scales glass, chrome and stone, and it changes what we specify and what maintenance we ask the family to commit to.
