Arabescato Marble is chosen twice — once for how it looks in a sample, and once for how it behaves over a decade of Indian weather, cleaning and daily use. The second choice is the one that decides whether you are happy with it. Every specification on this page is written from that second view: the substrate under it, the way it is fixed, the joint it sits in, and the maintenance it will realistically get in a working household.
Most disappointment with arabescato marble traces back to a decision made before the material arrived — an uneven substrate, a joint width chosen on site, a sealer applied to a damp surface, or a batch bought short and topped up from a different lot. None of these are material faults. They are specification faults, and they are avoidable in an afternoon of planning.
Where arabescato marble interacts with services — a duct, a drain, a conduit, an AC route — the service wins. Every attractive detail that ignored a service has been rebuilt at some point, usually at the client’s cost, which is why we resolve them together on one drawing.

Before you commit
How to choose arabescato marble
Six checks that prevent the failures we are most often called to fix.
- Reserve 10–12% extra from the same batch. Cuts, wastage and a future repair all come out of that reserve, and a matching batch will not exist in two years.
- Match the finish to the room's light. A high polish doubles the apparent brightness of a south-facing room and shows every footprint in a north-facing one.
- Get the layout drawn before ordering. Where the cut tiles land at doorways and corners decides whether the floor reads as designed or as fitted.
- For anything book-matched, the slabs must be sequenced and numbered at the yard. Book-matching cannot be recovered once the sequence is broken.
- Confirm slip rating for wet areas. R10 is the practical minimum for a bathroom floor, R11 for an open balcony that takes rain.
- Ask for the actual lot you are buying, not a showroom sample. Natural stone varies batch to batch, and a slab picked from a photograph rarely matches the one that arrives.
Bangalore
Arabescato Marble in Bangalore
What the city's climate, water, housing stock and society rules mean for this specification.
Working in Bangalore means working around two practical constraints more than around climate. Apartment societies restrict working hours, service-lift access and debris removal; and the new high-rise stock along the eastern corridor is handed over as a bare shell, so arabescato marble arrives at the same time as every other trade.
Balcony enclosure rules vary sharply between societies, and a few refuse them entirely. Anything involving a balcony gets checked against the society's own rules before design, not after — including in Indiranagar and Koramangala, where older buildings often have their own restrictions.
The mild climate is a genuine advantage: solid timber and veneer move far less here than in Delhi or Chennai, which makes craft detailing more durable and more affordable than it would be elsewhere. It is one of the few Indian cities where that is true year-round.
Hard borewell water in Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, Hebbal and Yelahanka leaves scale on glass, chrome and stone within months. Where the supply is hard we specify surfaces and fittings that tolerate it, and we tell the family the honest maintenance routine rather than leaving them to discover it.

Cost
What moves the price of arabescato marble
We quote line by line rather than per square foot, because these are the items that actually differ between two estimates.
- Block quality and yield. Two slabs cut from different parts of the same block can differ by half the price of the material.
- Thickness and edge work. A mitred 40mm edge on a countertop can cost more in labour than the extra stone it consumes.
- Wastage from pattern matching. Book-matched and vein-continuous work runs 25–40% wastage against 10% for a random lay.
- Site access. Large-format slabs that cannot go up a lift are craned or cut, and both change the number.
- Finishing on site versus factory. Factory-finished edges cost more per running foot and save days of dust and rework.
Process
How the work runs
Five stages, with the decisions each one locks.
We measure the space ourselves rather than working from the builder's drawing, note the services, water quality, daylight and society rules, and write down how the room is actually used. Arabescato Marble is specified against that survey, not against a catalogue.
Plans, elevations and details, with the specification written as grades and dimensions. You approve an elevation, not a render — this is the stage where changes cost nothing.
Material, finish, hardware and services are locked, and the estimate becomes a line-by-line document. We tell you exactly what this date locks and what can still change afterwards.
Factory production runs to the approved drawing while site work is prepared. Material is checked against the approved sample on arrival, in daylight, and stored correctly until the programme calls for it.
Installation, testing, snagging and a documentation file with drawings, warranties, decor codes and hardware models. A first-year service visit is scheduled at handover.
Living with it

The honest routine, and the mistakes that cost the most to undo.
Care and maintenance
- Wipe spills within the hour. Turmeric, lime, coffee and oil are the four stains that permanently mark most natural stone in Indian kitchens.
- Use a pH-neutral cleaner. Acidic bathroom cleaners etch calcareous stone; the dull patch that follows cannot be wiped off, only re-polished.
- Re-seal on a schedule — annually in a kitchen, every two to three years in a bedroom or living space, sooner if water stops beading on the surface.
- Keep grit at the door. Fine dust behaves like sandpaper underfoot and dulls a polished floor faster than any cleaning product will.
What goes wrong
- Buying on a sample the size of a postcard. Pattern and veining only make sense at slab scale — always see a full slab or a laid-out mock-up.
- Sealing a damp surface. Sealer applied before the substrate has dried traps moisture and produces a cloudy bloom that has to be ground back.
- Ignoring movement joints on large floors. A continuous stone floor over 6m without a joint will telegraph every structural movement as a crack.
- Treating polish as permanent. Every polished surface is a maintenance commitment; if that is not wanted, a honed or leathered finish is the honest choice.
Detailing

The small decisions that separate built work from assembled work.
Skirting is where a stone floor is won or lost. A shadow-gap or flush skirting keeps the plane clean; a proud skirting collects dust in exactly the line your eye follows.
Set out from the most-seen corner, not the wall the mason starts at. Cut pieces belong behind furniture and under joinery, never at the entrance.
Continuous veining across a wall and floor needs the slabs sequenced from one block. Ask for the block number on the invoice.
Grout colour changes the surface more than most people expect. A shade darker than the stone reads as a grid; a shade lighter disappears.

Arabescato Marble — answered
Is Arabescato Marble suitable for Indian kitchens?
Yes, with the right finish and sealing. The kitchen is the harshest surface environment in the house — turmeric, oil and standing water all attack an unsealed surface — so specify a dense, low-absorption grade, seal it before handover and re-seal annually.
How much extra material should I order?
Order 10–12% over the measured area for a straight lay and up to 20% where the pattern has to be matched or the room has many cuts. The reserve also covers a future repair, which is the reason it matters most.
Does Arabescato Marble need sealing?
Anything with meaningful porosity does. A penetrating sealer does not change the look, it buys you the minutes between a spill and a stain. Test it by dropping water on the surface: if it darkens instead of beading, it is time to re-seal.
How long does installation take?
For a typical 3 BHK, allow four to six working days for laying, then 48 hours before heavy traffic and a further week before the final polish or seal. Rushing the curing is the single most common cause of a floor that fails in its first year.
Can it be used on walls as well as floors?
Usually yes, but the fixing changes. Wall work above 3m or in large formats needs mechanical support in addition to adhesive; never rely on adhesive alone for heavy slab cladding.
What maintenance does it need long term?
Neutral cleaner weekly, spills wiped promptly, and re-sealing on a schedule. Avoid acidic cleaners entirely. Handled that way the surface outlives the rest of the interior.

The climate helps and the water does not. Mild year-round temperatures are kinder to timber and joinery than almost any other Indian city, so craft detailing lasts. Hard borewell water in the eastern and northern corridors is the real constraint — it scales glass, chrome and stone, and it changes what we specify and what maintenance we ask the family to commit to.
