Indoor Plants That Actually Survive Indian Apartments
Light, water and honesty about how much attention you will give them.

Match the plant to the actual light
Most apartment interiors are far darker than they feel. A metre back from a window is low light, and only a handful of species are genuinely happy there.
Low light, low effort
Snake plant, ZZ plant and pothos tolerate neglect and dim corners better than anything else. They are the reason those three are in every well-photographed room.
Bright indirect light
Monstera, rubber plant and fiddle-leaf fig do well within a metre of an east or north window. Direct afternoon sun through glass will scorch all three.
Drainage decides everything
More apartment plants die from standing water than from drought. Every pot needs a drainage hole and a saucer you actually empty.
Fewer, larger plants look better
One well-grown plant in a good pot does more for a room than six small ones scattered across surfaces.
